Superman II (1980)

Just happened to see this the other day, I've always felt that Superman 2 was by far the best of the Superman movies - and I still do. The trio of Kryptonite baddies led by Terrance Stamp as General Zod ("kneel before Zod!" - you've gotta have confidence to come out with something like that and expect to be taken seriously), accompanied by Sarah Douglas as Ursa and New Beatty as Otis (barely monosyllabic, but extremely strong), are easily the best enemies Superman has faced at the flicks. Add to this the conflict as Clark Kent and Lois Lane get serious and Superman considers abandoning his superpowers, and it's cracking entertainment.

Good action sequences, a fair smattering of funny moments, some tragedy and drama, a couple of satisfying revenge subplots and an enjoyable cameo appearance by Gene Hackman as the ever lovable, completely untrustworthy Lex Luther.  Great stuff.
