Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948)

Cary Grant and Myrna Loy are in good form here as a couple intent on moving out of their cramped apartment into a grand new home - but they come up against problem after problem, including their new house virtually falling to bits! Lots of slapstick and ironic humour, an exasperated friendly lawyer (Melvyn Douglas) trying to help (or at least, he usually seems to be trying to help...) - and Grant's character seeming to have 6 months to think up a 2-line advertising slogan, with nothing else to his job!

It's amiable enough fun, undoubtedly with the premise and cast it should have had more outright belly laughs, but it's still an enjoyable enough comedy. Directed by H C Potter (his first name was Henry not Harry - just in case you wondered!).
